MEET OUR JUROR

Richard PedneaultThe Pencil Art Society is delighted and proud to announce that Richard Pedneault will be our juror for our inaugural 2014 International Open Juried Exhibition.

Richard Pedneault was born in 1950, in Chicoutimi, Québec, Canada. Having a background in the Sciences, the Arts, and in Administration, he gravitated to a career in Museology. While at first drawn to art restoration, since 1981 he has focused more on the areas of conservation and dissemination. After working as a freelance curator from 1981 to 1987, in January, 1988, he assumed the helm of the Laurier Museum. From this springboard, he has made considerable impact upon the cultural milieu of central Quebec. For 26 years, through the dynamic leadership of Richard Pedneault, the Laurier Museum has become an establishment of national stature, producing over 400 exhibitions drawing upon the visual arts, the sciences, ethnology, architecture, history and politics.

A skilful communicator, Richard Pedneault has taken part in countless conferences, panels, and seminars, as well as participated in numerous radio and television broadcasts. In 2013, he received the "Hommage 2013" Award from the Cultural Council of Central Quebec for his entire career's achievements. Highlights of his many other honours and distinctions, include: The Institute of Figurative Arts' naming him Member Emeritus, in 2000, for his many cultural services and contributions, as well as the Government of Canada's awarding him The 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada Medal, in 1992, for his eminent services and contributions to Canada's culture.
