All of the PAS Exhibition and Pencil Power Conference events will take place over the course of the August 23-24 weekend, at the beautiful Repentigny Exhibition Centre, located at 3 Place d'Évry in the Montreal suburb of Repentigny, Quebec. There is plenty of free parking in the parking lots adjacent to the Centre. The Centre is open daily from 1:00 - 5:00 PM.
The Repentigny Exhibition Centre is the single major centre in Quebec, Canada's southern Lanaudiere region promoting fine crafts and the visual arts. With a total area of 300 m2 (3229 sq. ft.), the Centre's purpose is to organize and present local, regional, and international exhibitions, by up-and-coming, as well as well-established professional artists, providing an overview of key movements and trends in fine crafts and the visual arts. First and foremost, the Centre's area of focus is contemporary art, with an emphasis as well on public art, through thematic exhibitions strongly rooted in popular culture.
The Repentigny Exhibition Centre is proud to welcome the Pencil Art Society
and all the talented artists who have been selected to participate in the 1st PAS
International Open Juried Exhibition.

PAS WORKSHOP BY ERICA LINDSAY WALKER - UNUSUAL COLOURED PENCIL TECHNIQUES
COST: $20 (CAD)
EMAIL RSVP REQUIRED
Erica Lindsay Walker has been drawing with coloured pencil since childhood and is completely self-taught. Loving the look of paint, but preferring pencil's control, she developed her unusual techniques by studying the Old Masters and emulating the effects she admired. Two tools that she finds indispensable to her approach are erasers and razor blades. With these simple tools she can achieve the extraordinary painterly effects that give her work the depth and tactile richness of oil paint. In this workshop, she will share and demonstrate some of these techniques.
Each workshop participant is required to bring the following:
- a white vinyl eraser
- a kneaded eraser
- a soft brush (such as a drafting brush) to sweep coloured pencil dust from the paper
- coloured pencils*
PAS will provide the required paper and a razor blade for each participant.
*Softer pencils, such as Prismacolor or Derwent Coloursoft, are preferable for these techniques. Both of these brands are wax-based. Oil-based pencils, such as Faber-Castell Polychromos, are fine. However, oil-based pencils will not always produce exactly the same results.
