Artist Bio or Statement / Bio de l’artiste ou la déclaration
I currently reside in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, within the UK, with my wife, Linda. I have had some formal art training but mainly I am self-taught and as a time served draughtsman out of the shipbuilding and heavy engineering industry in Hull during the sixties, perspective always came easy. Watercolours was my initial medium, but since my retirement and travelling in our newly acquired camper van, coloured pencils has become my passion, especially with the new inspiration and varying subject matter.
At present I use the Derwent Coloursoft, Artist and Studio range of pencils and am currently investigating CP ranges, varying supports, tooling and techniques etc. As yet, I don’t have any particular theme or favourite subject, but go with what I feel challenges me.
In the 2014 UKCPS 13th Annual Open International Exhibition 2014, I was elated to have the opportunity to exhibit three of my works from my costal “Cromer” theme, but even more astounded to achieve recognition for my work “Rolling Breaker” and “Wave Sculpture”
This achievement has now set my goal in the advancement of my work, style and technique over the coming years.
