She has written a drawing journal, Drawing in the Light of Scripture, An Inspirational Tool for the Christian Artist.

Rusty has won various awards. She is a member of the Portrait Artists of Arizona, Vice Chairman and Artist in Residence for the San Tan Valley Substance Abuse Coalition (STVSAC), and is the STVSAC liaison to the Coolidge Performing Arts Center.

While specilizing in portraits, my greatest joy is not in only making marks on a surface that clearly captures the likeness of a person, but in capturing someone so the viewer says: “Oh, my goodness!” then the heart and soul of the subject jumps out to greet you!
