Artist Bio or Statement / Bio de l’artiste ou la déclaration
Margie’s formal art training was in illustration, but she was employed as an engineer until early retirement. She now spends full time as an artist, working in several mediums and enjoys exploring different materials and methods. She started drawing in pencil as a child and in later years has come back to the joys of graphite and charcoal. She also works in silverpoint and has started working in colored pencils.
Her work tends to two subjects – animals (mostly dogs) and figurative work. Currently she joins several friends for drawing/painting sessions once a week where they hire portrait models. In addition she frequently studies with well established teachers in the New York/Philadelphia area.
She is past president, and continuing board member, of Artsbridge – a 300 member non-profit organization promoting the arts in the Delaware Valley (the surrounding areas of Philadelphia in the US). She also has been show chair or co-chair for both the Artsbridge Open Juried Shows and Member’s Show.
Her work has been included in juried shows both locally and nationally.
