Artist Bio or Statement / Bio de l’artiste ou la déclaration
Drawing, for me, is calming…a way to relax.
When I pick up my crayons time stands still and I’m in my happy place.
I love the variety of shades and supple lines that this medium can procure, from light to heavy, shadows to brilliant light, softest or the roughest of textures.
There is no limit to what can be expressed through graphite and it is always wonderful to discover new techniques or to try a more difficult piece.
One never tires of this medium.
Over the space of several years I attended courses and workshops in drawing and painting.
I had the opportunity of participating in numerous art symposiums showing works done in…oil painting.
During the past two symposiums I attended, I showed a few of my pencil drawings, only to discover that many people are attracted by graphite drawings and some even dared tell me that there should be more pencil art in symposiums.
I believe that graphite should be given back its place as a respected art medium.
