France Bauduin SOFA
I have always loved drawing.
When working as a research assistant in Entomology in Laval University, I used my drawings skills to create an identification guide for some 350 species of aphids. I also illustrated the insects and diseases that attack some plants and trees for the Québec government in 1996.
In 1997, I moved to England and in 2001 came up with the idea to draw my newborn kittens. Having drawn their first 9 weeks in graphite pencil, I then decided to draw every kitten born in our house (now over 65) in coloured pencils.
I have illustrated two cat novels by Marilyn Edwards: White Chin (2010) and Magnificat (2013). I also illustrated Of Dogs and Cats and Bear by Jenny Melmoth (2013), a biography of her life and all the animals she has had.
As an artist and animal behaviourist, I aim to bring life to my drawings by featuring cats interacting with each other, whether it is kittens playing together or a mother’s love for her kittens.
I became a full member of SOFA (Society of Feline Artists) in 2012, a member of the UKCPS in 2013 and participate to their annual exhibitions.
